We were sent two complimentary issues of Nature Friend Magazine as part of The Homeschool Crew.
Part of the responsibility of raising a Christian child, is instilling a biblical worldview. Which means, you will need to do your homework on everything they are reading, whether it is recreational, or educational. When it comes to Nature Friend magazine, it is a little of both. It is something your child will enjoy reading while learning all about the wonderful world that God has created! And, you can be confident in giving this magazine to your child that it will support a biblical worldview. While this is a magazine that I enjoyed thumbing through, this really is a magazine that I was able to just hand to my children and they could read through it on their own.

When the first issue arrived, the first thing that jumped out at me was the beautiful photography. The pictures of God's Creation are just amazing. The tagline on the front of the magazine reads " Helping Families Explore the Wonder of God's Creation" This magazine is a wonderful tool to do just that!
Here is what my son had to say about Nature Friend Magazine; " I love the facts. I like the magazine better, because the facts were more interesting than in textbooks."
That same son also said, " I love the extra things, like the word finds and the cross word puzzles, I wish more books were like that"
There are two subscription options, you can subscribe to the magazine alone, which is great, in of itself. However, they have now developed a study guide to go along with each issue. And I must admit as a hoomeschooler, the study guide is a huge plus. When you subscribe to the study guide, it will come stapled right in the middle of the magazine. You can see a sample study guide here. The study guide helps reinforce what was learned in that particular issue, with exercises like, cross word puzzles, fill in the blank, acrostic and more. They also include research question to launch your student into deeper study.
There are two bonus features in the study guides, "A Study in Nature; a Lesson in Writing" and "The Photo Critique". These features not only give tips in both of those arenas, it also invites the students to send in their projects.
Subscription prices are , $36 a year for the magazine, and $24 for your study guide. You receive an issue each month. I know in this economy, the price can be steep. However, I can tell you, it is something that would enhance your homeschool.
Right now Nature Friend Magazine is running a special, our readers can use coupon code BLOG93 to save $3.00 off your new subscription. This offer will be good through November 30, 2009.
If you would like to see what the other members of the crew think, you can check it out here.
